For the fifth time in eight years, the Pitt Panthers have earned a trip to the NCAA tourney third round, with their strong second half showing against the spunky Oklahoma State Cowboys yesterday. In another see saw nail biter which has become the norm this spring, Sam Young showcased some future NBA skills, while floor general Levance Fields reminded us all that when the game is on the line, his blood runs colder than the Ohio River in mid December.

Kudos to coach Jamie Dixon as he became the winningest coach in NCAA history through the first six seasons of a career. Hopefully, he'll widen that margin by two or three more wins!

Here is what I liked about Sunday's victory and it should give us a ton of hope moving forward.
#1. Okla St was lights out in the 1st half, going 10 for 16 for behind the arc. Sam Young kept Pitt in the game and the game was tied at the half. Pitt easily could have been burried by that 1st half onslaught.
#2. Pitt came out and controled the 2nd half for its first 12 minutes.
#3. Pitt lost a little focus and then fell behind with about 4 minutes to play.
#4. Unwavered - and led by Fields. Pitt maintained their poise and finished off the Cowboys.
This should give them a ton of confidence heading into this weekend. I forecast a victory on Thursday - and then they'll be banging with the luckiest team in the land (Duke) - those bastards get all the freaking calls!!! I HATE THEM!!! (almost as much as I hate ND football)
